This years Thermal Thunder is going all out, the Hanmer 4wd Park has new owners and they are providing bigger and better stages, 4wd TV is comming to record it, and we have a few suprises up our sleave.

This is 4x4 Events NZ Inc’s inaugural event and is the final round of the Mainland Winch Challenge Series held at Hanmer.

Come allong with the other thousand or so people to watch the best compeating for their title!

Location: Pucker Park Hanmer Springs

LIMITED TO 40 VEHICLES

12th November Friday

Scrutineering will be held on site at the Hanmer 4wd Park sign posted from the main road in to Hanmer and starting at 5pm with prizes for the Show n Shine, Kiwi Ingenuity and the highest Ramp Travel index rating, with sausage sizzle cooking There will be 3 night stages for everyone starting at 8:30pm, a good warm up for Saturday

13th November Saturday

10 Stages starting at 9am with 3 more weather dependent stages just in case the day is faster than expected.

Prize giving 7pm at the Domain, limited to 100 people. (so get your tickets early!!!)

Classes

Rules as per Mainland Winch Challenge Rule Book available at:www.mainlandwinchchallenges.co.nz and attached below, with Clubman "B" invintational class

Clubmans A ( max tyre size 33" )

Clubmans B ( 33" to 36.5” )

For Clubman classes roll cage not required, wire rope may be used but must be accompanied with a plate and pin ground anchor.

Open ( max tyre size 36.5" )

Outlaws ( max tyre size 36.5" ) no reg or wof required

The following equipment shall be carried in/on each vehicle competing:

1> Current Registration & WOF, min 3rd party insurance (proof supplied at scrutineering) (excluding outlaws)

2> Full vehicle and rated equipment inventory including

A> Rated tow hooks front and rear
B> Winch
C> A portable "Ground Anchor" suitable for the size of the vehicle
D> Recovery kit to include the following items in good condition:
1> Tree trunk protector(s) with a minium 75mm web width.
2> A snatch block of suitable size.
3> 2 pairs of winching gloves
4> 2 rated bow shackles 3.25t minium
5> 2 cable dampeners, physical size 900mm x 500mm

E> Two 1 kg minimum multi-purpose dry chemical fire extinguishers to cover A B C&E type fires. The contents needle must be showing in the green band. They must be mounted securely with at least one within easy reach of either Driver or Co-Driver at all times while seated in the vehicle.

F> A comprehensive off-highway first aid kit.

G> Helmets, to comply with NZS5430 or AS11698 safety standards

H> A suitable size vehicle jack, jacking plates and wheel brace.

I> UHF Radio must be at least 0.5 watt Channel 40 will be the Safety Channel

Entry fee $150 including 2 meals for prize giving, extra meals available at $20 per person.
